On Sunday 24th March several local football teams came together to take part in a fundraising football festival that took place at Goals, Aberdeen. The festival saw all the teams take part in 5-a-side games throughout the afternoon (all in the under 7’s and under 8’s age group); the initiative was to encourage the children taking part to donate an Easter egg towards The Trinity Centre’s Easter Egg Appeal which will then be distributed to local children’s charities, hospitals, hostels, crèches and family centres.
Kenny Bruce, event organiser commented, “We’ve held a similar event over the last two years that have worked fantastically. This year we collected over 100 Easter Eggs, making their contributions over the last 3 years nearly 500 Easter Eggs.
It’s a great day for the kids as well as teaching them valuable lessons about giving to those less fortunate.”
The Trinity Centre’s Mascot, Giddy the Gorilla, was also there encouraging the kids to get involved.
The Trinity Centre’s appeal has grown from strength to strength over the past nineteen years, the number of eggs collected has grown yearly from 400 in 2001 to record breaking 5,026 last year – and this year could be the most egg-cellent yet!
Linda Stewart, General Manager, comments, “I would like to thank customers, retailers, local businesses and Trinity Centre contractors for their continuous support. We are so grateful that the community has been able to come together for such a worthy cause.”
“We are now on the last couple of weeks of the appeal and looking for support, we are asking our customers and local businesses to help us with this final push to help put a smile on a child this Easter.”
To donate a chocolate Easter egg please go to the drop off point on the centre which is a large perspex egg or alternatively come down to the Level 2 Management suite where a Trinity Centre Team Member will happily take your donation in. We will also be able to accept cash donations via the money slot on our egg where we can buy Easter eggs on your behalf.
The latest date for donations will be Sunday 14th April so the centre has enough time to distribute the eggs before Easter Sunday.
